Issue de générations de femmes du triangle « Europe - Afrique - Caraïbes », Marie Daulne a évolué au sein de ces communautés « Afro » d’Europe, nourrie de sons métissés des années 90 à savoir Rumba/ Afrobeats/ Zouk, Chanson Française/Funk RnB voir même Rock.

Le terme « AFROPÉENS » naissait dans les années 90´ pour distinguer les afro-descendants d'Europe.

Parallèlement, cette «communauté» s’efforçait d'être reconnue comme une nouvelle proposition artistique. Pour Zap Mama, la MUSIQUE fut le médium idéal pour faire évoluer les mentalités, distiller un message de manière sonore, utiliser ce monde invisible pour se faire voir. Aujourd'hui une nouvelle génération s'empare du mot ''afropéen ''.
 

Elle a été nominée aux Grammy's, a obtenu une licence pour EMI, ensuite CONCORD record et a composé pour de grands films, tels que MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2, The Man, La Haine, pour des publicités, Siemens, Nokia... des jeux vidéo FIFA et dans de nombreuses publications, est apparu à la télévision comme Arsenio Hall Show, BET (SOUL TRAIN Music Awards), BBC, JAPAN TV, Jools Holland, ZM music Think You can dance, Elen, collabore avec des artistes tel que Erykah Badu, The Roots, Sergio Mendez, Lady Black Mambasso et bien d'autres. For over 25 years Miss M. Daulne a.k.a ‘Zap Mama’, has made her mark in the music and entertainment industry thanks to her vocal creativity and appearances on the most prestigious stages. Her continuous involvement with music brought her to many places: she has toured the world, been nominated for Grammy’s, licensed by and composed for major motion pictures, appeared on television, in commercials, video games, and featured in numerous publications including, the NY Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, Huffington Post, World, Elle, Le Monde, and Times.

Zap Mama sings polyphonic and afro-pop music, a harmonic music with a mixture of infused African vocal techniques, urban, hip hop with emphasis on voice. The worldwide success of Zap Mama, and an ensemble of female polyphonic singers, inspired influences in American hip hop, nu-soul, jazz and elements of pop. The evolving musical compositions created a diverse band of singers and musicians for Zap Mama. 

Marie Daulne, the daughter of a Belgian father and a Congolese mother, and was born in the East Zaire City of Isiro. Marie had only been born a few days when her father was killed by the Simba Rebels, during the Congo crisis. The Crisis resulted in the deaths of some 100,000 people. It led to the assassination of Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba, as well as a traumatic setback to the United Nations, following the death of UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjöld in a plane crash as he sought to mediate. Marie's mother, with brother and sisters had to survive hiding in the forest. Several months later, they were airlifted out to Isiro in an emergency evacuation by Belgian paratroopers. Marie and her family were flown to Belgium, because her father was a Belgian citizen.
