MORY
KANTE
(New Acoustic-Traditional Show!!)
For this year we
offer two different projects:
Acoustic-Traditional Show or the Electric Show
With his new show, MORY KANTE, the
"electric griot", returns to his ancestral roots and to the traditional sounds
and rhythms of the Mandingue. The repertoire, which includes original songs
from his CD scheduled for release in 2004, invites us to discover the musical
instruments that are part of West African traditional music and poetry - such
as: the arc, balafon, bolon, daro, djembe, doun doumba, fe doun doun, flute,
kora, n'gony, talking drums…Accompanied on stage by the unique harmonies
of his female backing vocalists and leading an assembly of African musicians,
many among them virtuosos, MORY KANTE sings and masterfully plays his kora for
us - opening our minds and ears to new and unexplored horizons...
A show most definitely not to be missed!
